The Orthopedic/Spine Nurse Navigator's primary responsibility is to develop and assure quality of care for the orthopedic patient population including assessment, diagnosis, initiation of treatments, procedures and oversees the coordination of care during the hospital stay. The Orthopedic/Spine Nurse Navigator works in conjunction with Ortho/Spine Services, Perioperative Services, Nursing Staff, and Medical Staff to ensure the highest level of care for patients. They are a valuable resource for staff development as an expert clinician as well as a resource to organizations and systems in improving quality and conserving resources. The Orthopedic/Spine Nurse Navigator will be accountable for providing, developing, coordinating and implementing educational programs designed to convey specialized knowledge and skills to nursing personnel, as well as care coordination for all Orthopedic patients. The Orthopedic CNS is also accountable for developing, implementing, and evaluating orthopedic related competencies for staff caring for orthopedic patients on an annual basis. The Orthopedic/Spine Nurse Navigator will have access to all Patient Health Information for treatment purposes only.
