Position Overview:
The Order Processing Lead is responsible for the efficient and accurate allocation and release of customer orders to the Order Pickers and other warehouse associates. This role is the critical link between the customer order flow and the physical fulfillment process, requiring strong computer skills and a focus on optimizing labor resource usage and order priority. You will be responsible for the administrative function of order waving, system monitoring, and reporting daily progress toward key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall performance and achievement of the daily productivity requirements of your work area team.
- Acts as a team builder who plans, staffs, directs, and ensures the efficient operation of the team. Schedules staffing levels based on work need.
- Ensure compliance by all team members that their work is being performed consistently to the standards as outlined by the work task SOPs.
- Provides regular oversight, feedback and retraining as needed to help team members improve.
- Ensures compliance by all team members to company safety, equipment, and housekeeping policies.
- Maintain proactive communication with your team members and your direct supervisor during the work shift.
- Perform various other warehouse task responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum one to three years direct warehouse experience in a fast-paced distribution environment where small parcel and LTL/LT customer order processing occurs.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technology: Extensive familiarity with distribution software systems (WMS, ERP, etc.) is highly preferred. Proven experience in a computer-heavy administrative or coordination role within a warehouse environment. Demonstrated aptitude and comfort using distribution software systems, computers, email, and MS Office software programs (especially Excel for data tracking).
- Skills: Previous supervisory experience managing 3-10 team members. Familiarity with distribution software systems highly preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience. Maintains professional and courteous relationships with all warehouse associates while positioning themselves in a leadership supervisory position. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with diverse personalities and backgrounds.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires frequent movement throughout distribution centers and regular exposure to active warehouse environments (e.g., varying temperatures, machinery noise, concrete floors).
- Mobility: Ability to travel to and move within multiple warehouses and office locations, including climbing stairs and walking on concrete floors.
- Standing and Walking: Frequent standing and walking during work hours.
- Lifting and Carrying: Required to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Posture and Motion: Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching during work hours or power equipment checks.
- Vision and Hearing: Adequate vision and hearing for identifying hazards, reading reports, and communicating in varied work settings.
- Work Environment: Exposure to warehouse environments with temperature changes, machinery noise, and operational movement.
