Job Title: Ophthalmic Tech
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Ophthalmic Technician to join our outpatient clinic team. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on ophthalmic experience who are passionate about patient care and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment. No certification or license is required; however, prior ophthalmic technician experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary patient workups, including medical history, visual acuity, and chief complaint documentation
- Conduct diagnostic testing such as OCT, visual fields, tonometry, pachymetry, and lensometry
- Assist physicians with eye examinations, procedures, and minor in-office treatments
- Administer eye drops and prepare patients for dilation
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Clean, calibrate, and maintain ophthalmic equipment
- Educate patients on procedures, medications, and post-visit care instructions
- Ensure clinic flow runs efficiently while maintaining high-quality patient care
Qualifications:
- Required: Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in an ophthalmology clinic
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a busy outpatient setting
- Excellent communication and patient service skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience assisting in minor surgical or laser procedures
- Familiarity with retinal imaging and specialty testing
Work Environment:
- Outpatient ophthalmology clinic
- Fast-paced, team-oriented setting
- Direct patient interaction throughout the day
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7a-4p or 9a-6p (40 hours)
Locations: Float between Manhattan locations (West 65th st, 3rd Ave, Main Campus West 168th St)
Pay: 21-27/hr
