Overview

Graham Packaging Company is seeking a Wheel Operator II for our Joplin, MO facility. This position supports our C Shift, working 6:45 PM to 7:00 AM on a rotating schedule.

The Wheel Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring blow molding wheel equipment to ensure consistent production of high-quality containers. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to identify and respond to production issues, and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards throughout the process. Previous Machine Operator experience is required.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role requiring mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment in a production environment.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor plastic blow molding wheel equipment to produce high-quality containers in a safe and efficient manner

  • Perform mold, insert, and color changes, along with basic machine adjustments to improve efficiency and reduce scrap

  • Monitor material systems (resin, dryers, color systems) to ensure proper processing conditions

  • Conduct regular quality checks to ensure products meet established standards

  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical and processing issues; escalate more complex problems as needed

  • Assist with preventative maintenance and support maintenance personnel with repairs

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with all safety, quality, and GMP standards

  • Accurately complete required production and quality documentation

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support production goals

  • Assist in training new operators and support team operations as needed

  • Support other production roles during downtime or as needed

Qualifications

Experience with blow molding, injection molding, or similar manufacturing processes is preferred.Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience required (blow molding or plastics experience preferred)

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot production equipment

  • Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation

  • Ability to work a 12-hour night shift (6:45 PM – 7:00 AM) on a rotating schedule

  • Reliable attendance and ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing production needs
