Job Title: Machine Operator – 3rd Shift
Job Description

This role supports a high-volume production line in a clean, well-organized manufacturing facility. You will operate and tend machines on the 31XX line, manually handle parts up to 40 pounds, and work with an overhead crane to move axles and related components. The position focuses on safe and efficient machine operation, accurate assembly, and quality checks to ensure all parts meet required specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload CNC machines and presses with parts and materials in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Use hand tools to assemble parts on a production line according to established work instructions.
  • Measure parts to verify they are within specified tolerances and quality standards.
  • Add covers to finished axles before they move through the paint line.
  • Manually lift and move 40-pound parts, including axles and other materials, between machines, sometimes above shoulder height.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with machinery and overhead cranes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area on the production floor.
  • Work mandatory overtime as required to support production needs, including a 6-day workweek when scheduled.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and resolve basic equipment or process issues.
Essential Skills
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to consistently lift and move 40 pounds throughout the shift, including lifting overhead, bending, lifting, and twisting for extended periods.
  • Basic machine operation skills in a production setting.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively for assembly tasks.
  • Basic measurement skills to check parts against specified tolerances.
  • Strong attention to safety procedures and guidelines.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Availability to work 3rd shift, Sunday through Thursday, 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with mandatory overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience operating CNC machines, presses, or similar production equipment is beneficial.
  • Comfort working with an overhead crane to move heavy parts and assemblies.
  • Reliability and punctuality in a high-volume production environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team on a fast-paced production line.

Work Environment

The role is based on a warehouse and production floor that is very clean, well lit, and strongly focused on safety. You will work on the 3rd shift from Sunday through Thursday, 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with mandatory overtime and a current 6-day workweek. The work involves operating and tending CNC machines and presses, using hand tools, and working with an overhead crane to move axles and other heavy parts. The physical environment requires frequent bending, lifting, twisting, and carrying 40-pound parts throughout the shift. The dress code includes jeans, a shirt with no logos or vulgar language, and steel-toed boots or shoes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
