Role Description The Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operational activities across Interwest Capital’s portfolio and internal business functions. This role coordinates portfolio risk management, monitors performance metrics, and supports the execution of value-add business plans in collaboration with asset management, finance, and property teams. The Operations Manager will refine and enforce operational processes, standard operating procedures, and best practices to ensure efficiency, compliance, and consistent quality standards. Daily responsibilities include managing workflows, tracking key performance indicators, resolving operational issues, and preparing reports and analyses for senior leadership and the investment committee. The role also involves supporting contract negotiation, assisting with due diligence and onboarding of new assets, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that align with the firm’s strategic objectives.

Qualifications

  • Strong operations management skills, including process design, workflow optimization, and implementation of standard operating procedures.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial real estate, multifamily operations, asset management, legal administration, insurance, transaction management, or a related field.
  • Understanding of commercial and multifamily property insurance programs, including claims management, renewals, certificates of insurance, lender requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge of real estate tax assessments, business personal property filings, and tax appeal processes.
  • Ability to review and interpret leases, LOIs, contracts, and legal agreements.
  • Experience with contract administration, entity management, and corporate compliance.
  • Familiarity with real estate transactions, due diligence, closing processes, and lender servicing requests.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and vendors.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, Legal Studies, Risk Management, or a related field (e.g., CPM, RPA, ARM, Paralegal Certificate, or similar credentials are a plus.)
  • Experience working with property management, asset management, operations, or real estate management software is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site in San Diego, CA, and occasionally visit properties or attend meetings as needed.
