This position will support the operations of the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene (SONDH)UH Translational Health Science Simulation Center (THSSC). The UH THSSC brings real-life scenarios to the classroom so that students can gain the experience, confidence and skills they need to provide quality care. The center integrates state-of-the-art equipment, electronic patient records and practices currently used by the state’s leading medical centers. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • ** Manages fiscal, travel, purchasing of supplies, and assisting with inventory of supplies and equipment for the UH Translational Health Science Center.

  • ** Manages curriculum and interprofessional education (IPE) projects of the Center including administration of the Foundation Module/TeamSTEPPS certificate, coordination of evaluation surveys and simulations focused on IPE.

  • ** Supervises the work of graduate assistant(s) supporting IPE activities.

  • ** In collaboration with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA), Center Director and School Director of Operations, participates in negotiations with collaborative institutions (including international events) and funding entities for Center activities such as service and facility use contracts, grants, and donations.

  • ** Establishes working relationships with health care, education, research, state and federal agencies; nursing and interdisciplinary faculty; auditors; consultants; facilities management; vendors; media; appropriate commercial entities; and key personnel.

  • ** In collaboration with the ADAA, Director of Operations, Center Director, Dean, Director of Community Partnerships, and key personnel/partners, plans, develops, implements and monitors subject matter exchange activities and fee structures as needed.

  • ** Works with the ADAA, Director of Operations, Center Director, & senior staff to coordinate new initiatives in the Center including preparing and monitoring budgets, operational/ administrative/staffing plans, timelines, & suggesting strategies for efficiency.

  • ** Provides programmatic support for the Center's administrative, fiscal, logistical, grant and contract administration.

  • ** Recommends and implements internal Center quality improvement activities including program analytics and evidence-based best practices to facilitate sustained, continuous quality of education programs provided by the Center.

  • ** Assists in the development of annual quality reports, which includes analysis and trending of data to inform appropriate recommendations and outcomes.

  • ** Monitors trends in patient quality and safety, and utilize research and evaluation methods to ensure that programs and services are current and relevant to national standards.

  • May assist in the programming and testing of the simulators.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of project management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.

  2. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with project management.

  3. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.

  4. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.

  5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.

  6. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.

  7. If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.

  8. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior administrators, faculty, staff, Federal and State agencies, and international institutions.

  9. Knowledge of education.

  10. Knowledge of program evaluation.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Graduate course work in Business Administration, Higher Administration, Health Administration or related field.

  • Familiarity with university administration, university research activities and scientific support.

  • Experience with UH system-wide information management systems.

  • Experience in healthcare simulation..
