Open Rank Professor and Assistant Director - Prosthodontics

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry- Prosthodontics department is seeking an Open Rank Professor and Assistant Director. This is a full-time non-tenured faculty position. This position supports the Program Director in the leadership, administration, and continuous improvement of the advanced education program in Prosthodontics. This role strengthens UT Health Science Center’s mission by ensuring excellence in resident education, delivering high-quality patient care, fostering a culture of safety and compliance, and supporting initiatives that advance scholarship and clinical innovation. The position contributes to program accreditation, faculty development, clinic operations, and the delivery of evidence-based prosthodontic care that reflects UT Health Science Center’s core values.

  • Deliver graduate-level didactic, clinical, and laboratory instruction aligned with program standards and CODA requirements.
  • Supervise residents in diagnosis, treatment planning, prosthodontic procedures, implant dentistry, and patient management.
  • Evaluate resident competency through clinical assessments, formative feedback, case presentations, and examinations.
  • Assist the Program Director with curriculum development, program evaluation, accreditation reporting, and policy implementation.
  • Participate in resident selection, orientation, and professional development processes.
  • Contribute to departmental strategic planning and programmatic improvement initiatives.
  • Support the management of the Graduate Prosthodontics Clinic, including patient assignment, scheduling coordination, and oversight of case completion timelines
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and residents to optimize clinic workflow and patient experience.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, calibration sessions, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to part-time and full-time faculty to ensure consistency in clinical instruction and evaluation.
  • Engage in scholarly activity, including research, presentations, publications, or clinical innovation initiatives.
  • Maintain current knowledge through continuing education, literature review, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Promote integration of evidence-based practice into teaching and clinical care.
