The Morsani College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine is looking for Academic Hospitalist Nocturnists (Open-Rank) with a desire to work the night service (7 pm - 7 am) The Academic Hospitalist provides inpatient care for patients in an academic medical setting. This role includes providing direct patient care, consulting with other medical staff, interpreting laboratory results, educating medical staff and students, and managing patient flow. The Academic Hospitalist will also be responsible for ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained, coordinating patient care within the hospital system, developing and implementing care protocols, and providing medical advice to referring physicians. In addition, the Academic Hospitalist may be responsible for presenting research projects to further advance the field of hospital medicine.. Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees. Those BC/BE in Internal Medicine and/or Family Medicine are encourage to apply.
Prefer: 1-3 years of physician or hospitalist experience. Experience with hospital medicine. Previous experience in an academic medical center. Proven track record in teaching and/or clinical research preferred.
