Offset Press Operator

This role focuses on operating and maintaining offset press equipment to ensure the production of high-quality printed materials in a fast-paced production environment. You will play a key role in delivering consistent print quality, maintaining production efficiency, and supporting operational excellence while adhering to safety and quality standards.

The position spans the full print production lifecycle—from press setup and color calibration to monitoring output, troubleshooting issues, performing maintenance, and coordinating with team members. You will work closely with team leads and production staff to meet deadlines, minimize downtime, and ensure client expectations are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up offset press machines according to job specifications and maintain quality throughout production runs

Change press plates, blankets, and cylinders as required

Clean ink fountains, plates, and adjust press units as needed

Operate machines at optimal speed to meet production targets and efficiency standards

Perform machine adjustments to ensure maximum productivity and print consistency

Conduct regular quality checks to ensure all printed materials meet required standards

Recalibrate equipment and adjust color settings as required

Monitor print output, identify defects, and make necessary corrections

Track job counts, make-readies, and waste accurately

Communicate job status and production issues during shift transitions

Report quality concerns to Team Lead and assist in resolving issues

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment

Follow all safety procedures including lock-out/tag-out and operational guidelines

Perform routine maintenance and support overall equipment performance

Assist with additional production tasks to support team success

Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required

Minimum 3 years of experience as an offset press operator

Strong understanding of printing processes, color management, and print finishing

Knowledge of mechanical operations and production processes

Ability to read and interpret job instructions and technical documentation

Experience working with both computer-controlled and mechanical systems

Ability to monitor equipment performance for speed, quality, and efficiency

Strong attention to detail and quality control

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds regularly

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Reliable, punctual, and able to follow written and verbal instructions

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance systems

Familiarity with advanced offset printing equipment and automation

Experience in high-volume commercial printing environments

Knowledge of safety compliance standards such as lock-out/tag-out and HazCom

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and print quality issues

Willingness to learn new technologies and continuously improve skills
