- Provides clerical/general office support: Oversees and performs all secretarial and office functions for the Pain Management department. Coordinates all Pain Management patient scheduling, maintains and monitors scheduling system, and practices efficient and effective scheduling techniques. Ensures timely third-party payor authorization and communication of all required information between the department and the payors. Maintains good relationships with third-party payors and case managers. Supplies billing information to MMC in a timely manner. Compiles and communicates monthly statistics to Accounting and management. Oversees the handling of medical records. Ensures correct procedures are in place and are followed to ensure safety and confidentiality of records. Ensures that charts are available for patient's visit and that all documentation is completed after the visit. Performs secretarial duties including phone, word processing, filing, fax, copying, and receptionist duties, orders and maintains clerical supplies and forms.
- Performs basic Clinical Functions: Escorts patients to and from the Treatment Room. Prepares patient for procedure, e.g., takes vital signs, does a brief history. Monitors patient vital signs and assists during procedure under direct supervision of physician. Prepares treatment area for procedure. Ensures all supplies, equipment, and medication are available per physician's preference card. Communicates regularly with the Outpatient Coordinator and works closely with the staff of the other service providers to achieve the goals of the Outpatient Care Center. Demonstrates good judgment in tactfully handling emergencies or difficult situations, responding appropriately.
- Other duties: Assists in special projects assigned by the Outpatient Coordinator. Participates in monitoring and evaluation of services as evidenced by the completion of quality improvement monitoring and reports. Attends 80% of staff meetings and all mandatory meetings.
- Compliance with policy and procedures: Complies with safety, infection control, Dignity Health Integrity Program, and other organizational policies (90-day evals- department specific orientation checklists completed; annual evals -annual competency checklists completed). Complies with the organization's dress code. Arrives at work on time, as defined by the Attendance and Timeliness Policy. Attends work consistently, as defined by the Attendance and Timeliness Policy.
- Other Staff Responsibilities: Actively supports the organization's mission, philosophy and strategic plan. Demonstrates good time management and priority setting.
