This position is on the front line of our efforts to assist those in need of Weatherization services in Pierce County. This position is challenging and offers a wide variety of work. Every project is unique, and you’ll have an opportunity in this position to provide input on how to improve the program. In this position, you will support the day-to-day management and administration of the various grants that help fund this program.

TheWeatherization Assistance Programenables low-income families to reduce their energy costs by increasing the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety. Pierce County Human Services provides weatherization services to qualifying low-income residents outside the city limits of Tacoma.

The County provides the following Weatherization measures:

  • Home assessment
  • Insulation (floor, attic, duct, and walls)
  • Air sealing
  • Heat loss reduction
  • Test all gas appliances
  • Furnace repairs
  • Carbon Monoxide detectors
  • Improve indoor air quality
  • Energy conservation measures

How to be Successful in the Role:

You’ll be successful by bringing a strong work ethic, strong communication skills, and great organizational skills to the position, as you assist with the day-to-day management of the various grants that help fund our Weatherization efforts. An eye for detail and the ability to understand often complex grant reporting requirements are important. You will need to manage your time and be well-organized.

Your Future in this Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding position. The work you do will directly support the residents of Pierce County in this key role as part of the Weatherization program. In this position, you assign, disburse, and monitor grant expenditures. You will assist with monitoring project flow and expenditures of various projects and ensure we comply with grant requirements and end dates. In this position, you will also be able to make the Weatherization program and our services better for the residents of Pierce County.

Core Daily Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain logs, charts, spreadsheets, related data and files related to the division.
  • Examine and evaluate data to determine department's eligibility for, or conformity with, contract agreements or government regulated activities. Perform ongoing monitoring of program compliance. Explain, interpret and apply complex rules and procedures having division impact.
  • Monitor budget expenditures and statistical records. Audit for compliance. Process registrations and provide payment methods for employee training, travel, and lodging arrangements. Prepare employee expense claims and resolve any issues resulting from claims.
  • Prepare and review complex reports, forms, and other records prepared by others for clarity, completeness, accuracy and conformance with standard policies and procedures.
