A sweeping Grand Strand beach, pristine and wide open, stands as one of the most recognizable South Carolina landmarks. Revel in sea-breeze camping, the finest surf fishing South Carolina has to offer and some of the top bird-watching on the East Coast. That’s not all Huntington Beach State Park has to offer. There are also South Carolina landmarks such as Atalaya, the picturesque, Moorish-style winter home of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, philanthropist and sculptor, respectively, who left the park and adjacent Brookgreen Gardens as their legacy. Nature lovers also will enjoy the park’s wide variety of programming, including the chance to see loggerhead turtles and other endangered plant and animal species up close. The park’s freshwater lake is a sure-fire place to see alligators and sometimes even a mink or two.
Job Purpose and Duties:
Under limited direction oversee and coordinate multiple administrative and operational aspects of Huntington Beach State Park. Assist with venue sales, marketing, operations and client services with emphasis on events taking place at Atalaya and on the beach. Manages complex front-line customer service interactions as well as handles reservation oversight. Assist with festival planning, contracts, scheduling, and implementation handling park administration to include revenue accounting and submission, time administration, HR documentation, and any additional assigned duties.
1) Coordinates and oversees fiscal accountability and record keeping.
2) Coordinates and oversees procurement.
3) Assists with sales and marketing of Atalaya.
4) Contract and coordinate on site Atalaya rentals.
5) Provides administrative, operational, customer service and technical support to gift shop clerks, call center representative, and retail section. Provide front line customer service via answering website inquiries.
6) Provides administrative and operational support in human resources capacity. Complete hiring paperwork. Provide assistance with hiring, serve as time administrator. Assists employees with PCI compliance, uniform ordering and cross training.
7) Provides administrative and operational support for festivals.
8) Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing, Park Administration or related field and 2 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with park administration, event practices, and procurement preferred.
Additional Requirements:
1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, bending, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other material used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Works with office equipment such as computers, copiers, calculators, etc. Position requires working weekends during festivals and weddings.
2) Valid S.C. driver's license.
3) Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to work independently as well as in teams. Working knowledge of current word processing, spreadsheet and data entry software. Ability to perform park wide administrative duties. Ability to coordinate operational aspects of a large, coastal state park. Have detailed knowledge of related processes, procedures, guidelines, and systems. Knowledge of event operations to include set up, maintenance and administrative functions. Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.

Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
