OBGYN Nocturnist
Position Overview
Central Maine Medical Center, in partnership with Prime Healthcare, is seeking a dedicated OB Hospitalist / Nocturnist to join our growing Women’s Health team. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered obstetric care in a supportive, collaborative environment during overnight hours.
The ideal candidate is a confident, clinically strong physician who thrives in an autonomous night role while working closely with nursing staff, medical students, residents and support staff. We do approximately 900 deliveries annually and have a Level II NICU with in-house pediatrics and anesthesia.
- Nocturnist position (11 shifts/month. Mostly nights with some weekend daytime coverage)

Responsibilities
- Provide in-house overnight obstetric coverage
- Manage labor & delivery triage, admissions, and emergencies
- Perform vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections as needed
- Respond to OB emergencies, including fetal distress and urgent interventions
- Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Ensure timely documentation and adherence to clinical protocols
- Support patient safety and quality initiatives
Qualifications
- MD or DO, Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Active or eligible for medical licensure in Maine
- Strong experience in labor & delivery and obstetric emergencies
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
