Nursing Supervisor – Assisted Living


Location: Bergen County, NJ

Salary: $100,000 – $110,000

Schedule: Full-Time, Days

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM or 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Weekend hours may be adjusted to 7:00 AM–3:30 PM based on preference


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Nursing Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of an Assisted Living community. This leadership role is responsible for supervising nursing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining high-quality resident care, and supporting a collaborative team environment. The Nursing Supervisor will provide operational oversight, assist with clinical initiatives, and help maintain 24-hour nursing service coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the Assisted Living nursing department.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as facility policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate staffing and scheduling for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, CMAs, and HHAs to ensure appropriate resident coverage.
  • Assist with payroll, staffing adjustments, and direct resident care when needed.
  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of nursing policies and procedures.
  • Review documentation, audits, incident reports, evaluations, and clinical records to ensure compliance and quality standards.
  • Participate in care planning activities, resident assessments, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Assist with MDS processes and resident care plan reviews.
  • Investigate resident incidents, accidents, and complaints and ensure timely documentation and follow-up.
  • Monitor nurse call response systems and ensure timely resident assistance.
  • Participate in employee coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action processes.
  • Oversee electronic medical record documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Float to other units as needed to provide supervisory coverage.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives.


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support RNs, LPNs, CNAs, CMAs, and HHAs.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Promote resident-centered care and best clinical practices.
  • Assist with recruitment, retention, training, and development of nursing staff.
  • Recommend operational improvements and resource allocation strategies to maintain quality care.


Qualifications

Required

  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Nursing Supervisor experience in an Assisted Living setting.
  • Additional experience in Long-Term Care or a related healthcare environment.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and staff development skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate care to older adults.
