Overview

Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY is currently recruiting for a Nursing/LPN Full-time Tenure Track Faculty. Be a part of the dynamic team that helps shape the next generation of nurses! The Nursing Department invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty appointment in our ACEN-accredited Associate Degree Nursing program and/ or upcoming Licensed Practical Nurse program. Major responsibilities include teaching nursing theory, clinical instruction and evaluation, lab instruction and evaluation; curriculum development and evaluation with opportunities to incorporate SIMS activities, student mentoring and advisement to ensure strengthening of knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Use appropriate technology to deliver and enhance learning;
  • Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes;
  • Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester;
  • Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives;
  • Be responsive to student questions and available for student support;
  • Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education;
  • Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree or certification completion;and,
  • Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.

Min Compensation

USD $61,466.00/Yr.

Max Compensation

USD $61,466.00/Yr.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency is required to instruct in the AAS RN program.
  • At least three (3) years current acute-care experience.
  • Candidates must be qualified to assist students with bedside nursing care and possess abroad knowledgeof current and evolving clinical technology with advanced computer skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College, vocational or proprietary school teaching experience.
  • Experience with designing and conducting clinical laboratory simulations and a working knowledge of operating simulation manikins.
  • Experience with distance education.
  • Experience with mastery learning and instructional modules.
  • Experience in student advisement.
  • Formal course work in nursing education.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Bilingual in English and another language will be considered.

Additional Information:

  • Salary for 2026-2027Assistant Professor level is $61,466.
