This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health– Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center, 2100 Charlie Hall Blvd, Charleston, SC 29414.

Under the direction of the Medical Director the Nurse Supervisor will plan, develop, organize, manage and evaluate an efficient system of nursing services for the CDMHC clinics and regionalized teams which serve all patients. Will provide clinical supervision and assistance to the Tri County Stabilization Centers Lead nurse. Will provide direct nursing services as necessary to complement back up clinic nursing services.

Responsibilities for the Nurse Supervisor:

  • Directly responsible for the planning, development, management and evaluation of all nursing services to patients served by Charleston Dorchester MHC. Responsible for training, EPMS execution, and supervision of MMO caseloads of all assigned nurses. Coordinate appointments/calls for more refills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other local public and private agencies and internal service areas to ensure smooth flow of information and continuity of services for patients, especially those being discharged from local hospitals. Continuously evaluate and determine way to improve mental health care delivery.
  • Ensure prior authorizations are completed. Coordinate indigent medication needs with PAP coordinator, Provide some direct nursing services.
  • Comply with all applicable CDMHC/BHDD Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and Cultural Competence polices, procedures and regulations and all Federal an State laws. Attend all trainings classified mandatory by Federal and State regulations.
  • Act as infection control coordinator and liaison for co-located agencies providing medical care: Fetter Clinic, Select Health and nursing students. Responsible for medication room compliance in all clinics. Attend meetings as required by supervisor including monthly Risk Management meeting.
  • Manage cost, quality of care and outcome through monitoring and oversight of supplies and medications.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience.
Additional Requirements
  • Licensure as registered nurse by SC Board of Nursing.
  • At least two (2) years of mental health experience and previous supervision experience.
  • Experience in program supervision to include program evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of mental health programs, procedures and policies within a clinic.
  • A nursing license through the SC Board of Nursing must be obtained no later than 30 days of initial hire date.
  • This position is considered essential and may require reporting for duty in the event of weather or similar emergency events.
  • Must be able to travel in between locations and be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • As needed employee will be expected to use their personal vehicle for business and will be reimbursed according to applicable State policies and procedures.
Post hire, employees must:
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support.
