Job Requirements Position Summary:
The Nurse Manager is fully engaged in providing Product Excellence, Delight, Access, Ease and
Convenience, and Customer Cost by planning, managing, and assessing all unit functions to include
evaluation of patient care on a twenty-four (24) hour basis on the Nursing department of oversight.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manages and assumes responsibility for twenty-four seven (24/7) operations and activities of unit(s) of oversight.
- Facilitates and supports high quality patient outcomes; ensures compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health First’s policies and procedures, and regulatory agency standards with quality indicators and core measures.
- Performs clinical skills within the scope of practice of a registered nurse in the State of Florida for which competencies have been validated.
- Oversees and monitors the unit metrics on patient experience as evidenced by positive patient satisfaction scores.
- Ensures consistent performance of purposeful hourly or team rounding, bedside shift report and no pass zones.
- Assures all equipment on the unit is operable and safe, while monitoring and ordering unit supplies and equipment with adequate inventory of supplies for unit needs.
- Prepares and adjusts 24-hour staffing plan based on unit census and acuity on a daily basis.
- Ensures schedules are completed on time and in compliance with approved staffing plan.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team on ease of accessing care, education, information, and initiatives improving the patient care experience.

Work Experience Qualifications Required:
- Education: Any one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) OR
- Internal applicants may be able to receive limited waiver on education requirement if expected to complete BSN program within three (3) of start date OR
- External applicants may apply if currently enrolled and expected to complete a BSN program within two (2) years of start date.
- Work Experience: Two (2) years’ experience in an acute care clinical environment, with progressive nursing leadership experience.
- Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Florida or endorsement.
- Certification:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
- Additional certifications to meet unit specific care requirements.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Knowledge of TJC, Florida Nurse Practice Act and other applicable agency regulations.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to educate and speak/understand written and verbal communications in the English language.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building along with active listening skills to listen analyze needs from various ages and levels of education.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to access and interpret data to educate members of the healthcare team.
- Sound time-management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Maintains professional competencies by attending continuing education programs and participating in professional organizations.
- Ability to respond appropriately to life-threatening/emergent situation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Certification: Clinical certification in applicable specialty.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
- May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
- May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
- May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
- May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
