Job Summary

Per Diem Rotate

The Nurse Extern I (NE I) position is a developmental float pool role for nursing students seeking broad clinical exposure in an acute care setting. Nurse Extern I’s rotate across multiple units and support the nursing team while building foundational clinical skills. This position requires participation in a guided training and development program aligned to the scope outlines by the State-specific Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

The Nurse Extern I assists the Registered Nurse and care team by participating in patient care activities, including observation, basic patient care, and reporting relevant information to the RN, in accordance with hospital policy and scope of practice.

Qualifications

Education
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN nursing program
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course
• Completion of the first round of clinical rotations in full

Experience
• None required

Certifications
• Required: AHA BLS
