Nuclear Waste Management Specialist

Airswift is looking to hire a Nuclear Waste Management Specialist to lead and strategize a radioactive waste management program for safe and compliant approaches of handling, disposing and storing of nuclear waste materials.


Some responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all nuclear waste management activities comply with NRC regulations and DOE orders (especially 10 CFR Part 20 and Part 61).
  • Evaluating and selecting optimal nuclear waste encapsulation technologies that ensure long-term stability.
  • Planning and establishing characterization methods for nuclear waste streams for proper handling and disposal pathways.
  • Coordinating with regulatory agencies on waste classification, storage and disposal authorization and compliance reporting.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Health Physics or closely related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nuclear waste management.
  • Experience characterizing nuclear waste, manifest preparation and transportation requirements (including DOT regulations).
  • Strong knowledge of NRC regulations, DOE orders, ALARA principles and radiation protection standards.
