Position Overview
Are you an empathetic, detail-oriented Nuclear Medicine Technologist looking for a high-volume, highly rewarding travel assignment? We are seeking two dedicated contract PET Specialists to join our bustling oncology-focused imaging team in El Paso.
In this role, you will support a high-volume clinic with a robust patient pipeline (currently at a 3–4 week backlog). You will focus exclusively on PET scans across two premier sites equipped with top-tier GE and GMI scanning technology. To ensure your success, you will always be paired with a dedicated Medical Assistant during single-tech shifts, or work alongside a peer technologist during dual shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced PET Imaging: Safely prepare, radiolabel, and administer radiopharmaceuticals. Perform high-quality PET scans using a GE Discovery IQ scanner (Vista site) and GMI scanner (Gateway site). Note: At our shared Gateway site, you will focus strictly on PET scans.
- Patient Care & Compassion: Provide deeply compassionate, empathetic care to oncology patients navigating sensitive treatments.
- High-Volume Efficiency: Manage an efficient workflow, handling 8–9 scans per shift when working with an MA, or 12–13 scans total during two-tech shifts. Overtime opportunities are readily available.
- Administrative & Tech Workflow: Navigate a complex, multi-system backend workflow for scheduling, billing, and imaging.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Maintain seamless communication with CT Technologists, Medical Assistants, and front-desk clinic staff to optimize patient throughput.
Position Requirements
Required Certifications & Licensing:
- Certification: Nuclear Medicine Certification via ARRT or the NMTCB.
- State Licensure: Active Texas State License (Medical Radiologic Technologist).
- Hazmat Certification: Current DOT/Hazmat certification for shipping/handling radiopharmaceuticals (must be active prior to start or completed immediately upon arrival).
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Strong background in Oncology imaging.
- Direct hands-on experience with our core software platforms: Athena (Scheduling), Mosaic (Charging), and Carestream PACS (Imaging).
- A resilient, positive attitude when managing heavy administrative documentation.
Why You'll Love El Paso (The Traveler’s Perspective)
El Paso offers a unique, vibrant Southwest culture that stands entirely apart from other Texas metros. It features an incredibly welcoming, travel-friendly healthcare market where contract staff are treated like family.
- Outdoor Adventure: Enjoy stunning mountain views and desert scenery. You can literally hike before or after your shift at Franklin Mountains State Park, one of the largest urban state parks in the country.
- Perfect Weekend Getaways: Take quick road trips on your 3 days off to White Sands National Park, Carlsbad Caverns, Las Cruces, or the cool mountain escapes of Cloudcroft and Ruidoso.
- Rich Culture & Cuisine: Experience a laid-back, highly walkable community with a legendary, family-owned local food scene (the best tacos and burritos in the region).
- Summer & Fall Fun: From minor league baseball games with the El Paso Chihuahuas to downtown artist/farmers markets and outdoor concert series, your assignment window will be packed with local events.
- The Weather: Enjoy beautiful sunsets and a comfortable "dry heat" that avoids the stifling humidity of Dallas or Houston, cooled down by the late-summer monsoon season.
