Non-Equity Civil Litigation Partner

My client is a national law firm and seeking a highly skilled and experienced Partner-level attorney to join a growing civil defense litigation practice in New York City. This role offers the opportunity to take on a leadership position within a rapidly expanding team, working on a broad range of general liability matters while helping to shape the strategic direction of the practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior attorney with strong litigation credentials, leadership ability, and an entrepreneurial mindset.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution
  • Oversee and contribute to overall case strategy
  • Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and discovery responses
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses
  • Participate in arbitrations, mediations, and trials
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis
  • Communicate effectively with clients, courts, opposing counsel, witnesses, and co-counsel
  • Provide regular and timely updates to clients on case status and strategy
  • Collaborate with partners, associates, and legal staff, and mentor junior attorneys
  • Manage cases in line with billing and budgetary requirements
  • Build, develop, and maintain strong client relationships
  • Travel as required for court appearances and client meetings
  • Work a hybrid schedule from the New York City office


Qualifications:


  • 7+ years of litigation experience, preferably in defense litigation
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active New York Bar admission in good standing
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Experience drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, handling discovery, and conducting depositions
  • Experience in premises liability, general liability, product liability, personal injury, motor vehicle, property damage, construction and labor law, and insurance defense
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills
  • Proven track record of success in courtroom appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations
