Job Description

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a full-time Newborn Hospitalist to join the Division of Neonatology, the largest division in the Department of Pediatrics and Guerin Children’s, ideally as Associate Director of Newborn Medicine Service.

Newborn hospitalist responsibilities include:

  • providing professional physician clinical services in the delivery room and nursery
  • providing full spectrum newborn care
  • attending high risk deliveries and performing neonatal resuscitation
  • evaluating newborns with acute concerns in labor and delivery and the postpartum unit

Administrative leadership responsibilities include:

  • participating in and supervising quality and performance improvement initiatives
  • reviewing and updating current policies; developing and implementing new policies, procedures and guidelines
  • initiating and overseeing innovative clinical programs to enhance newborn care
  • overseeing the operational activities of physicians employed by the Division
  • participating in the educational curriculum for medical students and residents
  • contributing to division- and departmental leadership committees and initiatives

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is one of the largest labor and delivery facilities in the country, averaging between 6,500-7,000 births annually, and is advancing an ambitious vision for children’s healthcare thanks to the generosity of the Shapell Guerin Family Foundation and its president, Vera Guerin. Propelled by this historic $100 million gift, Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s fills a critical gap in care for young patients in Los Angeles and beyond, providing primary and specialty care for patients as they grow from newborns to adolescents to adults. In addition to current pediatric intensive care beds and neonatal intensive care beds, the hospital has renovated an inpatient space with 26 beds.

We offer competitive total compensation that includes pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. We also offer a comprehensive faculty benefits package.

Pay Range: $226,950 - $346,150 Total Cash Compensation

Successful candidates for this position must demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse group of and academic department partners using a collaborative approach. Other qualities include a commitment to excellence in patient care, implementation of innovative patient care programs and evidence of academic scholarly work.


Required Education/Certifications:

  • Medical Degree (or equivalent) from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certification or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted California license as Physician
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or ability to obtain certification prior to start
  • Eligible for appointment to the appropriate academic rank in the CSMC Professorial Series
  • Established record of excellence in teaching, patient care and administration
