Senior Network Engineer

A global trading and technology firm is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support and enhance its high‑performance, low‑latency backbone infrastructure. This role focuses on building reliable, scalable backbone networks that power mission‑critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize backbone architecture for low‑latency, high‑bandwidth connectivity
  • Deploy and manage routing and optical transport hardware
  • Build efficient routing paths between data centers and external venues
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of network engineering experience, preferably in backbone or large‑scale environments
  • Strong knowledge of BGP, IS‑IS, MPLS, PIM, and Segment Routing
  • Experience with routers, switches, and DWDM/optical networking technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across routing and packet‑level analysis
  • Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible)
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills

Work Model

Hybrid role, requiring 3-4 days onsite per week in Chicago
