Job Title: Network Planning Engineer
Job Location: Atlantic City, NJ (Onsite Role)
- Seeking a talented Network Planning Engineer specializing in network transport and security to support the test, development, deployment, and on-going support of a nationwide, mission-critical communication system.
- You will be working to help support the global aviation community with advanced systems and services that significantly increase the safety, security, and capacity of global air traffic management systems to meet the growing demand of air transportation operations.
- This position is located at the FAA William J Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City, NJ.
Essential Functions:
- Act as engineering support to network engineering operations for the testing and configuration of new information systems and services.
- Make configuration changes, code upgrades and troubleshoot issues related to networking devices and transport topologies.
- Explain complex issues, data flows, and packet analysis to the customer in a way they can understand.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field minimum six (6) years of prior relevant experience. Otherwise, Graduate Degree and a minimum of four (4) years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of ten (10) years prior related experience.
- Relevant network engineering experience, including system test, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a global enterprise environment.
- Experience integrating large complex multi-vendor solutions.
- Experience and strong demonstrated working knowledge of the OSI model and TCP/IP-based networking architectures and communications.
- Demonstrated ability to use packet capture utilities to understand TCP data flows and troubleshoot and resolve TCP/IP network transport issues.
- Hands-on experience working with network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and servers
Preferred Technical Skills & Experience:
- Experience engineering and supporting IP routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP.
- Experience configuring and supporting network transport devices from Cisco and Juniper.
- Very strong TCP/IP networking and subnetting experience.
- Ability to understand and explain the interplay between software and the network transport.
- Advanced certifications such as CCNP, JunOS
- Experience serving government customers in a network engineering environment a plus.
- Experience in FAA National Airspace System (NAS) telecommunications or air traffic management a plus
- Outstanding people and interpersonal skills. Capable of working well with internal & external customers.
- Strong listening, written and oral communication skills.
