Job Description:
The NCD Quality & Food Safety Technologist is responsible for ensuring FSSC standards and relevant Mars and Royal Canin QMS and SQA standards are implemented and continuously improved to assure quality and food safety at the NCD site, protecting our supply chain, our customers, and our brands.
Principal Accountabilities
Leader of HACCP & Food Safety Team, as well as Foods Safety Management Systems
Leads the NCD site based internal audit programs to ensure all processes and procedures are managed in accordance to Mars Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) Standards, Business Unit QMS/SQA directives and applicable regulatory regulations including FSSC.
Partner with Mars and Royal Canin SQA to ensure NCD maintains approved supplier status and drive continuous improvement of the NCD suppliers.
Product Related Incident Management owner for both NCD, leading all investigations and corrective action planning for inbound, in process, and outbound materials.
Food Defense Team Leader
Owns MSE Q&FS Pillar. Supports Quality Initiatives through MSE and leads all quality related continuous improvement activities.
Responsible associate for the sites hold management systems (SAP/ Nexus) ensuring requirements and procedures including product disposition and destruction are in accordance with Mars Standards and Business Unit directives.
Lead the food safety risk assessment process for all changes such CAB, New products/pack/process and or new regulations/ standard that impacts QFS. Document all approved changes as per Business Unit requirements.
Lead investigations and conduct analysis on customer complaint trends and recommend actions for improvements.
Provide training on relevant quality and food safety standards to supply associates.
Lead Quarterly Quality management review
Conducts periodic Sanitation audit providing feedback to Operations on MSS compliance.
Maintain domestic and export permits
Maintain the quality budget for NCD
Owns quality Key Performance Indicator scorecard
Key Functional Competencies & Technical Skills
Internal auditing, preferred lead auditor
Knowledge of the Windows working environment including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong oral, listening, and written communication skills in order to communicate with all levels of the organization
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Education & Professional Qualifications
Food Science, engineering, biological sciences, chemistry, or equivalent Bachelors degree preferred.
Knowledge / Experience
2+ year experience in a Quality, Food Safety, Regulatory Services, or Engineering area preferred.
Working knowledge of pet food processing and packaging
Ability and aptitude to work in an R&D, Manufacturing, and/or Distribution environment
Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP's), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Systems (HACCP), ISO, Regulatory Guidelines, Sensory, and/or Microbiology
