The Solution Architect – Natural Gas Utility Project Management Solutions leads the design and delivery of standardized, scalable project management and project controls solutions for regulated natural gas utilities. This role applies deep industry experience to improve how capital programs—such as pipeline integrity, system modernization, and RNG initiatives—are planned, governed, and executed. Acting as both a technical leader and trusted advisor, the Solution Architect bridges strategy and execution to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and predictably.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

In this role, you will design and lead the implementation of standardized project management, governance, and project controls solutions for natural gas utility clients. You will apply hands‑on industry experience to improve how capital programs—such as pipeline integrity, system modernization, and RNG initiatives—are planned, executed, and closed out. You will serve as a trusted advisor to utility leadership while providing technical leadership and mentorship to delivery teams.

You will need strong project management and project controls expertise, with the ability to translate hands‑on experience into scalable frameworks and governance models. Success also requires executive‑level communication skills, the ability to lead and influence cross‑functional teams, and a consultative mindset focused on client outcomes.



Required Qualifications & Experience

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Petroleum, or related field)
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
  • Additional credentials such as Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), MBA, or relevant gas utility certifications are advantageous.

Natural Gas Utility Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in the natural gas utility industry, with significant involvement in capital project delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience managing gas transmission, distribution, storage, compression, LNG, RNG, or integrity‑related projects.
  • Familiarity with the full project lifecycle, including planning, permitting, construction, commissioning, and closeout within a regulated utility or EPC environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget while navigating regulatory and operational constraints.

Project Management & Controls Expertise

  • Strong command of project management methodologies, governance frameworks, and PMO operating models.
  • Experience developing standard operating procedures, templates, metrics, and controls that improve delivery consistency and transparency.
  • Practical knowledge of risk management, cost control, schedule management, and change management in gas utility contexts.

Technical & Systems Skills

  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 or MS Project for scheduling and resource management.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems for project accounting and controls.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, including advanced Excel and data visualization tools.
  • Experience with collaboration and document management platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Teams) in regulated environments.

Leadership & Communication

Ability to operate effectively in client‑facing consulting environments, engaging utility executives, field leadership, and delivery teams.

  • Demonstrated capability to mentor teams, influence without authority, and drive adoption of standardized practices.

Domain & Regulatory Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of natural gas utility operations and infrastructure, including pipelines, stations, meters, storage facilities, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory and compliance frameworks such as PHMSA/DOT (49 CFR Parts 192 & 195), OSHA, environmental permitting, and integrity management requirements.
