JOB TITLE: MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Buyer/ Planner Supervisor

Reports to: Director of Maintenance & Facilities


SUMMARY: The MRO Buyer/Planner Supervisor is responsible for ensuring and supporting uninterrupted plant operations (optimization of equipment uptime and productivity) by leading the timely cost- effective sourcing, procurement and expedition of parts and services and effective inventory management of maintenance materials, parts, and supplies. This key member of our team will actively manage the financial lifecycle of maintenance operations, processing requisitions into formal Purchase orders and optimizing inventory levels to prevent plant downtime while efficiently managing the departmental budget. The Supervisor leads and develops the planning/scheduling and parts department and associated employees, drives const control and process improvement and ensures safety and compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the cost effective sourcing, procurement and expedition of parts, supplies, equipment and services required to maintain uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Oversee inventory levels, material forecasting and coordination with maintenance and operations staff.
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with policies, specifications, and audit standards.
  • Prepare and issue bid documents, evaluate proposals, and recommend vendor selections.
  • Track lead times, supply chain risks, and market trends to support project planning and budgeting.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and operations teams to standardize materials and optimize inventory.
  • Oversees the planning, scheduling and assigning maintenance work as directed, issuance of PM work orders, monitor progress and report on performance of the team.
  • Routinely analyze inventory positions vs consumption and adjust as needed.
  • Ensure work orders capture data concerning materials, labor, issues, and solutions for problems encountered.
  • Manage the financial lifecycle of maintenance operations and efficiently manage the departmental budget.
  • Report on relevant KPI’s including on-time completion, budget performance, backlog health & aging WO’s, timely closing of work orders and issues with the process.
  • Performs end-of-life monitoring for all production & facilities assets.
  • Supervises personnel in the planning/scheduling and parts inventory areas
  • Other duties as assigned.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES


  • Proven success in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost optimization.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • High sense of urgency- Ability to prioritize critical plant needs under pressure.
  • Excellent influencing, written and verbal communication and relationship building skills
  • Proficiency with CMMS (Maintenance Connection preferred).
  • Experience managing REQ-to-PO workflows and vendor negotiations.
  • Strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to translate market insights into sourcing strategies.
  • Computer skills, Internet and Microsoft Office including Teams, Excel & Word.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or related field or Combination of Education and experience.
  • Five years of CMMS experience and maintenance organization buying.
  • Five years of maintenance organization buying as well as work planning and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Manufacturing and maintenance environment experience preferred.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Approximately; 30% of work is performed in maintenance storage environment, 20% in manufacturing production areas and the balance is in an office environment.


Work is performed in both an office setting with standard equipment such as computers, and phones where the noise level is generally quiet to moderately loud and also in storage areas and the manufacturing plant and is exposed to refrigerated (35-40 degrees) and wet conditions. The noise level in the plant is usually loud.

The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.


Pay Range


The base pay range for this role is $80K to $100K USD annually.


The listed salary range represents Kayem Foods’ good faith estimate for this position and represents the minimum and maximum for new hire pay ranges.


Ranges are reviewed on a regular basis. An employee’s rate of pay within the range is determined by their qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated performance over time. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued wage growth. This position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package and is eligible for an annual wage review. Kayem Foods complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
