General Responsibilities
Responsible for the safe operation of all internal combustion engines assigned to the Marine Department, and all systems associated with the same. Advises supervisory personnel of the need for parts, supplies, and the status of assigned equipment. Responsible for the operation and repair of yard and shop vehicles and equipment assigned to the department. Perform repairs of all equipment assigned to the department as specified by the Marine Department Director. Assist as required in the everyday operation of vessels and equipment used in the training of students. Instruct students in the proper methods of engine operation and maintenance, of all internal combustion engines, including outboards. Assist in the hauling and launching of vessels as directed by supervisory personnel. Position is designated as “essential personnel” and requires participation in the Academy’s random drug testing program in accordance with 46 CFR Part 16.
*Shift and Area of Assignment: Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
