Monitor Technician

Overview

We are seeking aMonitor Technician,sometimes referred to asourTelemetry Monitor Technician(Tech)or Tele Monitor Tech.A Tele Monitor Tech willberesponsible forobservingand interpreting patients’ heart rhythms and other vital data transmitted by telemetry equipment. This role is crucial foridentifyingand alerting the medical team to any abnormalities or critical changes in a patient’s cardiac or health status. The Monitor Technician detects early warning signs of cardiac events, ensuringtimelyintervention, and improving patient outcomes in our telemetry unit.This position is on a per diem basis, meaningPD/PRNas needed.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Cardiac monitoring,observeand interpret heart rhythms (ECG/EKG) displayed on telemetry monitors

• Recognize normal and abnormal cardiac patterns, such as arrhythmias, and document findings

• Notify nurses or physicians of any significant changes in a patient’s heart rhythm or vital signs promptly, escalate critical issues (e.g., life-threatening)immediately

• Set up,maintain, and troubleshoot telemetry equipment, including electrodes and monitors

• Ensure proper signal transmission and resolve issues with poor connections or faulty equipment

• Record telemetry readings in the patient’s medical record for documentation and review, generate rhythm strips for analysis by the medical team

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for all new hires.Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate Preferred must complete within the orientation period and maintain current annually.Current BLS (AHA) certificate required upon hire and maintain current.Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician preferred.
