RN / Registered Nurse – Vascular Access Team

Our team is searching for a dynamic Registered Nurse to join the interdisciplinary team performing patient care on our Vascular Access Team.

The Registered Clinical Nurse (RN) is fundamental in achieving recognized world-class health care. Assumes direct and indirect responsibility for the patient's care environment. The primary responsibility is providing care through collaboration with health care team members and the autonomous application of the nursing process. Also provides leadership, mentoring and role modeling for other members of the health care team.

As a Vascular Access Specialist, RN you are responsible for the following:

  • Assess patients with difficult access for appropriate VAD device
  • Round on units to find patients via clinical staff who may need a mid to long-term VAD
  • Troubleshoot difficult complications of VAD or assist staff in troubleshooting
  • Place difficult peripheral catheters or assist staff as a resource indeclotting
  • Provide resource education to staff on VAD
  • Provide patient teaching regarding PICC line care and maintenance
  • Provide staff education on VAD care and management
  • Provide physician education and consultative service to physicians on VAD
  • Monitor all vascular access device outcomes and partake in QA assessment tools
  • Maintain knowledge and competency level with seminars, magazines, books related to infusion therapy

The VAT, as part of the hospital healthcare team is responsible for specified vascular access device (VAD) procedures, central venous access device (CVAD) dressing changes, and CVAD surveillance throughout the organization and serve as consultants for specialty care units. Vascular access device (VAD) placements include difficult peripheral intravenous (PIV) starts/ restarts, peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), and midline catheters (MLC). The VAT colleagues serve as educators in all matters that pertain to vascular access including CVADs. The VAT RN as a consultant is involved in the continuing process of patient education relative to infusion and vascular therapy. This patient education process may include collaboration with discharge planners and home health care agencies for patients who will continue therapy on an outpatient basis to ensure that the most appropriate VAD is placed prior to discharge.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY

Required Education:

  • Associates in Nursing
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Required Experience:

  • No previous experience required
  • Preferred: 2-5 years’ experience as RN

Required Certification/License/Registry:

  • Current license to practice as an RN in Florida
  • Must have a current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR) certification from an accredited instructor from the American Heart Association (AHA) and/or other specialized life support requirements designated by work area
