Title: Molding Process Technician
Location: Libertyville, IL
Duration: Long-term Contract
Job Summary
Support injection molding operations in a regulated manufacturing environment. The role focuses on machine setup, process control, troubleshooting, quality assurance, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Mandatory Requirements
- Experience in injection molding or mold setup
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic and electric injection molding machines
- Strong troubleshooting and process optimization experience
- RJG Molding experience is mandatory
Preferred Certifications
- RJG Master Molder I or II
- Forklift Certification
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree in Plastics Technology, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
- Set up molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment for production runs
- Adjust machine parameters to maintain part quality and meet specifications
- Start up and shut down molding machines as per SOPs
- Ensure smooth and efficient production operations
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Diagnose molding issues such as flash, short shots, sink marks, and warping
- Perform routine maintenance and minor mold/machine repairs
- Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams for complex issues
Quality Assurance
- Inspect molded parts and ensure compliance with quality standards
- Maintain process documentation and lot traceability records
- Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
Process Optimization
- Monitor mold performance and improve cycle time and productivity
- Reduce scrap and improve process stability
- Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols and operational guidelines
- Ensure compliance with ISO-13485, FDA CFR, and GMP standards
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
