Title: Molding Automation Technician

Job Summary
Support injection molding automation systems in a manufacturing environment. The role focuses on robot programming, automation troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and process optimization to ensure efficient and reliable molding operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with industrial robots, PLCs, and automated molding equipment, with a strong focus on minimizing downtime and improving production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Automation Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve issues with molding automation systems, including robots, conveyors, sensors, and vision systems.
- Respond to alarms and equipment faults in real time to minimize production downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to identify and resolve recurring automation issues.
Robot Programming & Optimization
- Program and optimize molding robots (Sepro, Fanuc, Yushin, Wittmann) for part handling, degating, and packaging operations.
- Modify robot paths, sequences, and parameters to improve cycle time and product quality.
- Maintain backups and proper documentation of robot programs and configurations.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on automation and molding equipment.
- Replace worn components and calibrate sensors, actuators, and control systems.
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs and equipment performance records.
Process Support & Continuous Improvement
- Support mold trials, process validation, and new product launches by setting up automation sequences.
- Recommend improvements to automation layouts, tooling, and workflows.
- Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and kaizen events.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure automation systems operate according to safety standards and company procedures.
- Follow ISO, FDA, and GMP compliance requirements where applicable.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in production areas.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in injection molding automation or related field.
- Hands-on experience with robot programming and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of PLCs, HMIs, industrial sensors, and motion control systems.
- Experience with servo motors, VFDs, and pneumatic/hydraulic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Familiarity with EOAT (End-of-Arm Tooling) design and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Automation, or related field.
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
