DUTIES:
Implement educational programs and enhances lesson plans correlated to State and Next generation Science Standards (NGSS) delivered using the MFL.
Facilitate teacher-training workshops using the MFL; develops and implements traveling programs to schools, nursing homes, libraries, and hospitals.
Responds to public inquiries following established guidelines and contributes to team effort by completing tasks on an as needed assigned basis.
Establishes liaison and maintains cooperative working relationships with MEC staff whose functions impact on assigned responsibilities. These include environmental educators, Assistant Directors, School District Coordinator and the NJMC.
Consults with supervisor on a regular basis to report progress on assignments, to report problems, and to resolve problems.
Wear designated uniform shirts when presenting a program to school groups and the public.
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority.
Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours is considered one year of college).
EXPERIENCE
One year professional experience related to the functions of the position to be filled or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge of STEAM topics related to healthy eating and food science required. Knowledge of food preparation, biology and chemistry and issues surrounding healthy food availavility preferred.
Be familiar with NGSS and State Content Standards.
Innovative teaching techniques/strategies.
Ability to conduct classes outdoors under varied conditions.
Research and develop new programs for school groups and general public.
Demonstrated computer literacy/ knowledge of current educational technology
Assist in the production of literature for program use.
Be able to travel to various facilities and present programs
