Marathon TS is seeking an experienced MLS Engineer specializing in secure data-sharing solutions for a high-security defense and intelligence environment. The ideal candidate will act as a senior technical authority responsible for the design, integration, and ongoing support of cross-domain communication systems that operate across multiple classified levels within defense and intelligence frameworks. This role emphasizes practical engineering, deployment, and operational management of multi-level security architectures and secure data transfer mechanisms, ensuring strict policy adherence and system integrity across diverse networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement multi-level security solutions to facilitate safe data exchange between networks of varying classification tiers.
- Architect and sustain multi-tiered security systems, including defining data flows, establishing trust boundaries, and applying security enforcement controls.
- Integrate cross-domain data transfer capabilities into complex systems such as reconnaissance platforms, sensor networks, communication systems, and data processing environments.
- Configure and maintain data filtering, tagging, validation, and releasability controls aligned with security policies and operational needs.
- Support and optimize real-time data exchange operations, ensuring system performance and security compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to secure data transfer, system interoperability, and cross-domain functionality.
- Ensure adherence to applicable security standards and frameworks, including NIST RMF, and support accreditation processes.
- Prepare and maintain essential documentation, including security plans, risk assessments, and compliance reports.
- Collaborate with government officials, security authorities, and stakeholders during design reviews, testing, and approval procedures.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams working on multi-level security and data transfer systems.
- Design comprehensive security architectures that span from space-based sensors and spacecraft systems to ground processing and dissemination networks.
Qualifications:
- Active U.S. security clearance (Secret, with ability to obtain Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance).
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Educational background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in cybersecurity, systems engineering, or related fields within defense or intelligence sectors.
Core Skills:
- Proven experience with secure data transfer solutions, including design, operation, or deployment in classified environments.
- Deep understanding of multi-level security architecture implementation.
- Familiarity with high-assurance cross-domain transfer platforms and tools.
- Knowledge of government and NSA standards, including certification and accreditation processes.
- Experience with data tagging, classification, automated releasability, and secure data management.
- Strong grasp of data validation, filtering, and secure transfer protocols across security domains.
- Capable of defining and executing testing and validation strategies for secure systems.
- Experience working with stakeholders on security compliance, system validation, and accreditation procedures.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of real-time data streaming architectures, such as publish/subscribe systems or ISR data flows.
- Experience with hybrid or cloud-based classified systems.
- Software development skills in languages like Python, C++, or Java, for system customization.
- Experience supporting large-scale sensing, communication, or intelligence gathering systems.
- Expertise in system architecture design, cyber security postures, and integrated cross-domain solutions, especially in space and ground environments.
