Job Description

The Mill Operator plays a crucial role in a team focused on grain testing and manual addition of feed ingredients, adhering to established operating procedures. The role encompasses inventory management, maintenance, repair, operation of production-related equipment, and housekeeping activities. Compliance with company policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations, is essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct grain testing, including DON testing, dockage, moisture, bushel weight, and foreign material, using both automatic and manual truck probing.
• Execute manual addition of feed ingredients and accurately record medication and vitamin usage.
• Develop a basic understanding of animal nutrition and ingredient interactions within milling and grinding processes.
• Perform routine housekeeping tasks in the mill.
• Undertake general mechanical duties as required.
• Navigate and utilize software such as Laserfiche, The Wenger System, and WEM.
• Manage ingredient and inventory, ensuring bag inventories are maintained, stacked, and orderly.
• Complete required training promptly.
• Perform additional duties as directed by supervisory staff.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Background in agriculture through education and/or experience preferred.
• Knowledge of feed manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
• Ability to operate machinery and heavy equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Valid fork-lifting certificate or willingness to obtain certificate within the first 12 months of employment.
• Ability to work overtime, any shift including weekends.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and dusty conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shippensburg, PA.

The pay range for this position is $23.75 - $26.75/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Shippensburg,PA.
