Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols
  • Measure, cut, align, and fit metal components
  • Perform MIG welding on steel, stainless steel, or aluminum materials
  • Operate fabrication equipment such as grinders, saws, torches, and presses
  • Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and quality
  • Maintain proper weld dimensions and tolerances
  • Use measuring tools including tape measures, squares, calipers, and levels
  • Follow OSHA and workplace safety procedures
  • Repair or rework defective welds and assemblies
  • Maintain welding equipment and work area cleanliness


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with MIG welding and metal fabrication
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings and weld symbols
  • Knowledge of welding safety practices
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
  • Good math and measurement skills
  • AWS certification preferred but not always required


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1–5 years of MIG welding/fitting experience commonly required
  • Technical school or welding program training is a plus
