Job Description
Candidates are expected to teach HRA’s Humanities curriculum, which is rich in History, Catholic Theology, Composition, and Latin. All high school students take one seminar class each year that cycles through Greece, Rome, Medieval Europe, the Modern European Era, and America’s Founding. The right candidate will share their knowledge of the great Western tradition, help mature the students’ intellects and writing capabilities, and guide students to love their Catholic faith more by their example.

Salary
Salary ranges from $44,000 - $52,000 depending on experience and education. Our benefits package includes dental and vision coverage, and a 401K plan.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will:

• Possess at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in the Liberal Arts
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Have experience teaching math and science, especially at a classical school
• Be capable of teaching several subjects well
• Effectively manage the classroom and relevant administrative tasks
• Ideally, have at least one year of teaching experience.
• Be a practicing Catholic and a good role model for the students
• Bonus qualification – possess a love for the outdoors

Responsibilities

• Teach pre-Algebra, one section of middle school history, Latin, and one Humanities Seminar
• Teach an enrichment course within your skill set, such as chess, drama, or graphic design.
• Engage students in each subject, demonstrate the value of the Humanities in modern life, and invite the students to actively participate in Socratic discussions
• Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, staff, administrators, and board members
• Act professionally at school and during all school functions
• Prepare daily lesson plans and relevant exams

HRA recognizes the difficulty teachers experience while trying to find affordable housing in Anchorage. Therefore, we offer furnished, rent-controlled apartments on campus for eligible teachers.
