Job Description

This role focuses on validating critical dimensions on complex assemblies using advanced precision measurement equipment and software. The metrologist sets up and operates tools such as Coordinate Measuring Machines and laser scanning systems, performs routine inspections and adjustments, and ensures that all measurement activities comply with relevant industry standards. The position requires extensive hands-on experience with Spatial Analyzer and PC-DMIS measurement software and a strong commitment to accuracy, documentation, and continuous improvement in measurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Validate critical dimensions on complex assemblies using precision measurement equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines and laser scanning systems.
• Set up, configure, and verify precision equipment prior to use to ensure reliable and repeatable measurement results.
• Perform routine inspections, calibrations, and adjustments on measurement systems to maintain accuracy and traceability.
• Use Spatial Analyzer and PC-DMIS measurement software extensively to program, execute, and analyze measurement routines.
• Document and record measurement results thoroughly during dimensional validation activities, ensuring clear traceability and compliance with procedures.
• Apply metrology principles and best practices to evaluate measurement data and verify that parts and assemblies meet specified requirements.
• Troubleshoot measurement issues and equipment performance concerns, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Support preventative maintenance activities on measurement and calibration equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Follow and support standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control requirements, and applicable standards such as ISO and AS9001.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to interpret results, resolve dimensional nonconformances, and improve measurement processes.
• Use test equipment, measurement tools, torque tools, and pressure testing devices as required to complete calibration and verification tasks.
• Analyze existing measurement procedures and contribute to procedure improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
• Support OEM and internal requirements by ensuring measurement equipment and methods align with customer and regulatory expectations.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience in calibration or measurement systems (preferred).
• Extensive experience using Spatial Analyzer measurement software.
• Extensive experience using PC-DMIS measurement software.
• Strong background in metrology, including dimensional inspection and measurement system analysis.
• Hands-on experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and laser scanning equipment.
• Proficiency in using precision instruments, measurement tools, and calibration software.
• Knowledge of ISO standards and other relevant quality and calibration standards.
• Knowledge of AS9001 quality requirements.
• Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5-2018 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
• Experience with instrumentation calibration and measurement equipment calibration.
• Ability to perform troubleshooting on test and measurement equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to measurement data and equipment performance.
• Proficient documentation and communication skills for recording and reporting measurement results.
• Ability to follow and support SOPs, quality control procedures, and preventative maintenance schedules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with quality control practices in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Experience working with torque tools and pressure testing equipment.
• background in procedure analysis and continuous improvement of measurement methods.
• Experience supporting OEM requirements and working with complex assemblies.
• Ability to perform repair and basic maintenance tasks on measurement and calibration equipment.
• Comfort working with a variety of measurement equipment and test instruments in a technical setting.

Work Environment

The role involves hands-on work around complex assemblies and calibration equipment, following structured SOPs and preventative maintenance routines. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Midland, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $42.00/hr.
