Job Title: Fabricator
Job Description

The Fabricator constructs metal enclosures and structures using a variety of welding processes and metal fabrication tools. This role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints and assembly instructions, set up and operate fabrication machinery, and work with materials ranging from 16-gauge to 0.5-inch carbon steel as well as stainless steel, aluminum, and brass. The Fabricator ensures all products meet required specifications and dimensions while contributing to the design and build of fixtures that support efficient production.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and assembly instructions to plan and execute fabrication work accurately.
  • Construct metal enclosures and structures using MIG welding and gas-shielded flux core welding as primary processes.
  • Work with 16-gauge to 0.5-inch carbon steel to produce components that meet design requirements.
  • Fabricate using additional materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, and brass as needed.
  • Set up and operate metal fabricating machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Design and build fixtures to support production and improve fabrication efficiency.
  • Inspect workpieces to ensure product specifications, tolerances, and dimensions are met.
  • Use hand tools and fabrication equipment to cut, form, assemble, and finish metal parts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures and best practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and quality standards.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in metal fabrication or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in MIG welding, including gas-shielded flux core welding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and assembly instructions accurately.
  • Experience working with 16-gauge to 0.5-inch carbon steel.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure product specifications and dimensions are met.
  • Ability to set up and operate machinery for fabricating metal components.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools commonly used in metal fabrication.
  • Experience fabricating metal enclosures and structural components.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with stainless steel, aluminum, and brass.
  • Experience with TIG welding is a plus.
  • Ability to design and build fixtures to support production processes.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work productively in a production environment while maintaining quality standards.

Work Environment

The role follows a 4/10 schedule, working Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no travel required. Work takes place in a fabrication and production environment using welding equipment, metal fabricating machinery, and hand tools. The position involves working with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and brass, and requires adherence to safety procedures and proper use of protective equipment in a shop setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Henrico, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
