MEP Project Manager

Position Summary

Our Project Managers are experienced in commercial HVAC and Mechanical Construction andlikesthe challenge of unique designs,projectsand deadlines. You will be able to run jobs big and small, coordinating multiple jobs simultaneously, while also providing leadership to project engineers and partnering with our field staff to ensure flawless project delivery. You will also manage project milestones,identifyingand coordinating resource requirements. One of the most important skills sets youpossessis the ability to exercisea high levelof judgment and work autonomously within company processes. You are willing to learn the Southland way of doing work and are eager to learn from others at all levels of the organization. The experience you have allows you to have a short learningcurve, butdoes not present a barrier to learning new things. Position Details

• Provide supporttoa single large project or multiple projects being managed bya SeniorProject Managers and Project Engineers
• We do self-performing work, soyou'llneed to work with craftsman,foremanand the owner
• You'llhelp planout projectsfrom start to finish with an understanding ofall ofthe moving parts involved and what it takes to manage the process
• You'llutilizeyour LEAN principles and have a keen understanding of what the owner wants and how we can deliver it
• You'llplay a key role in managing the financials and making sure the project stays on track
• You'llcontinually develop and nurture customer relationships beyond a single project –atSouthland, we value customers for life.
• You'llget to mentor early-career professionals and help prepare them for the next step in their profession in keeping with our core value “People.”

Qualifications

• You have a strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, mechanical, process piping, including design, construction, and how these systems work
• You'refanatical about planning, innovating, and improving the processes we use every day
• You know how to plan 3 to 6 months down the road and know what it takes to achieve successful progress and outcomes along the way
• You know how to run a job, track production in the field and build good relationships that inspire people to want to work hard for you
• Youhave the ability tothink outside the box and lead the team in driving innovative construction techniques and prefabrication strategies.
• You have strong experience managing mechanical construction projects for a mechanical company – after all,that’swhat we do!
• You'reaccountable and take initiative on your projects. Accountability is one of Southland’s highest values.
• You'reable to creatively solve problems.You’vebeen in the trenches before. You know what it takes to get the job done and done right for your customer and your company.
• You have strong leadership skills, business acumen, and integrity.
• You have a strong understanding of the financials of a project and how to forecast
• You have good relationships with the field and understand what it takes to get the best out of your people
• You'reable to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to achieve mutual outcomes.We’recounting on you to bring a collaborative spirit to our work process.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, 7-10+years experiencein a related field.
• Experience working at an MEP firm managing multiple MEP projects isa must!
• Experience working on projects with process piping is a big plus!
• Experience with Design/Build and IPD project experience is a plus
• Familiarity and/or experience with Lean Construction tools is a plus
