MEP Coordinator – Healthcare Construction (OSHPD Preferred)

Position Overview
A leading general contractor is seeking an experienced MEP Coordinator to support complex healthcare and hospital projects in Sacramento. This role is responsible for coordinating all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure seamless integration, constructability, and compliance with strict healthcare standards.
Candidates with OSHPD experience are highly preferred, particularly those familiar with working in active or occupied healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
MEP Coordination & Planning
- Review MEP drawings, specifications, and submittals for constructability and scope alignment.
- Lead coordination efforts between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection trades.
- Identify and resolve clashes through BIM coordination and field collaboration.
- Support development of MEP schedules and installation sequencing.
Healthcare & Regulatory Compliance
- Coordinate systems in compliance with California Department of Health Care Access and Information requirements (OSHPD).
- Support inspection processes and documentation for healthcare projects.
- Assist with infection control measures and ICRA planning where applicable.
Field Support & Execution
- Work closely with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure proper installation of MEP systems.
- Participate in coordination meetings and assist with issue resolution in the field.
- Track progress of MEP scopes and identify potential risks or delays.
Documentation & Communication
- Manage RFIs, submittals, and coordination logs related to MEP scopes.
- Maintain accurate records of changes, approvals, and inspections.
- Serve as a key communication link between design teams, subcontractors, and field teams.
Quality & Commissioning Support
- Assist QA/QC teams in inspections and quality verification.
- Support commissioning efforts and system turnover processes.
- Ensure systems are installed per approved plans and specifications.
Qualifications
- 3–8+ years of experience in MEP coordination on commercial or healthcare construction projects.
- OSHPD project experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Experience with BIM tools such as Navisworks, Revit, and coordination software.
- Knowledge of healthcare construction standards and inspection processes is a plus.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
