Application Process for Mental Health Intern - Unpaid Those interested in applying for the Mental Health Intern- Unpaid position at BARM, please follow the steps below: 1. Application Materials ● BARM Application ● Resume ● Letter of Reference: Submit at least one letter of reference from a professor, supervisor, or professional who can speak to your qualifications and commitment to the field of mental health. ● Essay Questions : Please answer at least 1 essay question. Minimum 500 words. ○ How do you believe this internship will contribute to your long-term career goals in the field of mental health? ○ Why do you want to work with the population served at Bay Area Rescue Mission? ○ In what ways do you hope to contribute to the Bay Area Rescue Mission during your internship? 2. Submit Application ● Submit application materials to roser@bayarearescue.org ● Include "Mental Health Intern Application" in the subject line of your email. ● Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until all (5) intern positions are filled. ● If your school is not yet in partnership with Bay Area Rescue Mission, please also provide the contact information for your internship coordinator or relevant department, so we can initi ate a partnership agreement if needed. 3. Interview Process ● Qualified candidates will be invited for an interview, which may be conducted in-person or virtually with our Program Director and Clinical Supervisor. ● During the interview, we will discuss your experience, interest in the position, and availability, as well as assess your understanding of trauma-informed care and your ability to work in an interdisciplinary team. Background Check & Drug Test & Required Trainings ● Upon successful completion of the interview, approved candidates will be required to undergo a background check and drug test ● Candidates will also be required to complete the following trainings for the site before starting ○ Sexual Harassment Training ○ Mandated Reporter Training 5. Orientation and Onboarding ● Once the background check and drug test are cleared, selected interns will be invited for orientation and an onboarding session. ● This will include an introduction to BARM’s mission, trauma-informed care principles, policies, and procedures, as well as the expectations of the internship. 6 . Start Date ● We are looking to have interns start as soon as possible, with regular supervision and training sessions provided weekly to ensure ongoing support and professional development.
