About the Role
The Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Physicist to join the Cancer Institute team in downtown Spokane. You will work in an Apex-certified center alongside two Board Certified Radiation Oncologists, one Board Certified Medical Physicist, three Dosimetrists, and six Radiation Therapists.
This clinic is high-volume (averaging 35 patients/day) and poised for growth, with plans to install an additional linear accelerator and expand services in the coming years.
The Technology & Environment
- Equipment: Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator (6DoF couch, Portal Dosimetry), GE Lightspeed CT simulator with 4DCT.
- External Beam, 3D conformal, electron, IMRT/VMAT, SBRT, and cranial SRS (Hyperarc module).
- Software Suite: * Eclipse TPS 18.0 & Aria (with EPIC integration).
- MiM Software Suite & Radformation (ClearCheck, ClearCalc, EZfluence, AutoContour).
- QA Tools: Total QA, SunCHECK, Sun Nuclear (DailyQA3, MapCHECK 3, IC Profiler, SRS MapCHECK), and Standard Imaging Phantoms.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee ongoing QA/QM, machine calibrations, and Radiation Safety programs.
- Provide treatment planning/delivery support, including image registration and fusion.
- Manage requirements for Radioactive Materials and Radiation Emitting Device licenses.
- Provide technical training and support for Radiation Therapists and Dosimetrists.
Requirements
- Education: MSc in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP-accredited program required (PhD preferred).
- Certification: ABR Board Certification (or equivalent) or Board Eligibility (requires completion of a 2-year CAMPEP-accredited residency).
- Experience: Prior experience with SBRT and SRS treatment techniques is required.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Broad Scope Radioactive Materials Licenses.
