Location: Brentwood, MO (Hybrid after training)
Compensation: $21–$26 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Addison Group is hiring a Billing Specialist on behalf of our client, a growing and stable healthcare organization. This role supports third-party billing functions with a strong focus on Medicare and related reimbursement processes. The ideal candidate brings hands-on billing and cash posting experience and is eager to grow in a collaborative environment.
Job Description
The Billing Specialist is responsible for submitting and monitoring Medicare-related claims, applying payments accurately, and ensuring timely resolution of billing issues. This position works closely with senior billing staff and serves as a resource for internal teams regarding insurance-related questions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit initial Medicare claims for multiple care sites using electronic billing systems
- Monitor claim status and follow up on rejections or returned claims to ensure prompt resubmission
- Handle secondary and coinsurance billing for straightforward claims; escalate complex or aging items as appropriate
- Post payments and adjustments for Medicare, home health, and hospice services to accounts receivable
- Complete Medicare-specific claim submissions such as no-pay, benefit exhaustion, and informational claims when required
- Transfer accounts to senior billing staff when claims exceed aging thresholds, require appeal, or are under audit or review
- Stay current on Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care billing rules through regulatory and payer resources
- Enter ancillary Medicare charges accurately and on schedule
- Provide support to internal staff and residents regarding insurance benefit questions
- Cross-train as backup support for other billing team members, including benefit verification prior to services
- Process small balance adjustments within established guidelines
- Assist with tracking Medicare coinsurance bad debt data for reporting purposes
Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of hands-on Medicare billing and cash application experience
- Direct involvement in the full billing lifecycle (not limited to intake or hand-off roles)
- Exposure to home health and/or hospice billing strongly preferred
- Experience navigating Medicare billing portals (including regular DDE usage)
- Working knowledge or experience with terms such as NOA, PDGM, and MACs
- Comfortable working in Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with PCC or similar systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for billing and revenue cycle work
Work Schedule & Flexibility
- Full-time, onsite during initial training
- Hybrid flexibility available once fully trained
- Minimum of 3 onsite days per month post-training, with additional in-office days as needed for meetings or team events
