General Accountant (Non-Profit)

PrideStaff is working on behalf of a reputable non-profit organization in Palm Beach County to find a dedicated and detail-oriented General Accountant. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting directly to the Controller. The ideal candidate will oversee essential accounting tasks, manage financial information in QuickBooks, and ensure accurate, timely client billing.

Position Summary

The General Accountant is responsible for conducting financial analysis, assisting the CFO with monthly financial statements, and performing comprehensive account reconciliations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounts. You will also play a key role in administering Central Reach client billing and responding to donor inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

Billing & Program Support

  • Oversee all organizational billing activity, including program services, events, and donor receivables.
  • Implement and manage the Central Reach process for private pay, public funding, and insurance-based invoicing.
  • Maintain electronic records for various services (adult, recreation, and therapeutic) and create standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Process Vocational Rehabilitation and Medicaid billing.
???????Communicate with insurance companies regarding claims status and negotiate insurance rates.

Financial Records & Cashflow Management

  • Maintain accounts receivable and record all cash receipts, wires, journal entries, and merchant transactions (PayPal, Square, etc.).

  • Perform monthly bank account reconciliations for multiple accounts.

  • Review accounts payable aging and prepare necessary journal entries.

  • Prepare program analyses to support business decisions and establish procedures for tracking event-related revenue and expenses.

Donor & Event Accounting

  • Reconcile donations between Donor Perfect and QuickBooks.

  • Assist with the financial reporting requirements for grants.

  • Manage multiple merchant accounts and perform reconciliations during fundraising event cycles.

Administrative & Compliance

  • Administer background checks for staff, volunteers, and visitors.

  • Serve as the Security Awareness Officer for CJIS Online compliance training.

  • Supervise the Medical Billing Specialist.

Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

  • Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a non-profit environment.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and databases.

  • Specialized Software: Proficiency in Central Reach (Electronic Health Record) is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 Per Year
