Essential Job Functions
- Post and code charges accurately and in a timely manner
- Process patient payments, including credit card transactions
- Submit claims and manage billing inquiries via phone, email, and in person
- Monitor and follow up on patient and insurance accounts receivable
- Research and resolve denied or unpaid claims, including corrected claims and records requests
- Prepare and provide detailed patient ledgers and billing documentation
- Assist patients with self-pay processes and submissions to insurance carriers when applicable
- Maintain and monitor patient payment plans and arrangements
- Research coding questions and support billing accuracy
- Sort and manage incoming billing-related correspondence (mail, faxes, etc.)
- Reconcile payments and prepare deposits as needed
- Collaborate with internal teams to support billing processes and workflow improvements
- Educate patients on balances, billing processes, and financial responsibility
- Perform additional duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of medical billing experience
- Strong understanding of the full revenue cycle process
- Experience working with patient accounts receivable and insurance follow-up
- Knowledge of medical billing terminology and coding practices
- Familiarity with credits, debits, and basic accounting principles
- Experience in cash-pay or self-pay environments preferred
- Understanding of commercial insurance carriers (excluding Medicare/Medicaid focus)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to educate both patients and staff
- Adaptability and comfort in a constantly evolving environment
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Ability to manage high volume and prioritize effectively
- Empathy and professionalism when working with patients
