Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our dermatology team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of dermatology and plastic surgery visits, providing exceptional patient care and support to providers during medical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, verify their identity, review demographics, and ensure accurate medical charting.
• Conduct patient intake, documenting chief complaints, history of present illness (HPI), medical history, allergies, and medications.
• Prepare patients and procedure rooms for dermatology and plastic surgery visits.
• Assist providers during procedures including biopsies, excisions, suturing, cryotherapy, electrodessication, acne extractions, chemical peels, neurotoxin injections, dermal fillers, and minor surgical procedures.
• Ensure proper labeling and handling of lab and pathology specimens.
• Provide wound care instructions and post-procedure education to patients.
• Assist with pre-operative and post-operative visits, including medical photography.
• Sterilize surgical instruments and maintain an inventory of clinical supplies.
• Maintain an OSHA-compliant sterile environment and ensure proper room turnover.

Essential Skills

• Experience in medical assisting and dermatology.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in dermatology is preferred.
• Experience with prior authorizations and biologic treatments.

Work Environment

The position is based in a privately held clinic with two providers. The work environment includes a standard office setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Knoxville,TN.
