This is a full-time, benefited position with 8-hour day shifts, typically scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Start times may vary between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM, with no weekend or evening shifts. Shift hours may vary based on operational needs. The position is based at Scripps Clinic Rancho Bernardo, though occasional floating to other locations may be required as needed.

What you'll do:

  • Back office duties mainly with front office duties as needed
  • Perform patient intakes
  • Scribing for the dermatologist
  • Assisting with diagnostic testing, phototherapy UVB/UVA, laser, and surgical procedures
  • Completing clerical duties including scheduling patient visits, taking supply inventory and managing medication authorization approvals
  • Float to other sites within the specialty depending upon department needs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, and organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
  • Assisting in preparing patients for examination/procedures
  • Assisting physicians with procedures
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
  • Performing vital sign documentation
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Order and referral entry
  • Acquisition of pre-certifications
  • Setting up of cases in EPIC
  • Basic registration and updating of demographics
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician and performing vital sign documentation
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Order and referral entry
  • Acquisition of pre-certifications and setting up of cases in EPIC
  • Basic registration and updating of demographics

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program or a minimum of two years of experience as a Military Corpsman or Medical Assistant Certification
  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of previous MA experience
  • One year of MOHS/dermatology experience
  • Experience assisting with procedures
  • Scribing experience
  • Strong typing skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Position Pay Range: $25.95-$32.56/hour
