Position Overview:The Immunization Program Medical Assistant-Client Support Specialist (MA-CSS) will support health services provided to patients by ensuring quality patient care through immunization operations. Under the clinical guidance/oversight of the Immunization Program, the Immunization Program MA-CSS will be responsible for performing both front and back office duties, all clinical tasks are in accordance with all Harris County Public Health policies, and procedures as delegated by the Local Health Authority. Also performing clerical front desk duties to support the operations flow.This position supports the Harris County Public Health Department (HCPH), and reports to the Mobile Immunization Assistant Program Manager. This position will work with our Mobile Immunization & Immunization Program teams, and will travel throughout Harris County.Duties & Responsibilities:- Assists with patient appointments by performing Immunization, phlebotomy (including capillary and venous draws), urine collection, pregnancy tests, lead testing, vital signs, & gathering patient histories.
- Perform clinic front office duties; scheduling, answering phone, and checking patients in/out as needed.
- Prepares and labels all patient specimens for transport to appropriate laboratories.
- Provides in-room support for all clinical staff during the clinic visits as needed, including assisting the provider during procedures.
- Maintains laboratory and exam rooms in a neat, clean, and orderly manner in accordance with infection control policies, and complete monthly inventory.
- Assists in performing data entry and electronic data processing by using the HCPH electronic medical record system (Epic), Microsoft Excel, and any other related programs/sites.
- Support the coordination of scheduling patients to receive services from Multidisciplinary team members.
- Interviews client to collect required information for eligibility determination, using grant and payor guidelines.

Education:- Completion of a community college or business/technical school Medical Assistant program.
Experience:- Six (6) months of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in phlebotomy.
Licenses/Certifications:- American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.

- This is a full-time position, funded through special revenue.
- Days and hours of the position are typically Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- 40 hours per week.
- This position may work weekends, early mornings, and evenings.
Work Environment:- This position operates in a medical clinic environment. This position also operates in a standard office environment with standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers.
Physical Demands:- Persons in these positions frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 lbs. They also occasionally move objects weighing up to 20 lbs., and sometimes, but rarely, up to 50 lbs.
Work Location:- Harris County Public Health: Community Health & Wellness - This position operates in a mobile setting, traveling throughout Harris County jurisdiction.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
